Last time I was at Disney, wasn't for the park, it was to photograph a beautiful training campus for incoming Disney employees to live, work & play. In fact this photography assignment came as close to failure as can be and is a real testament to the tenacity and perseverance that we bring to any assignment we are awarded.
We arrived to find the campus was still fully under construction, against what we were told prior to setting up the shoot. Actually what happened is that there are two campuses and we did not have all of this information when we were setting up the logistics for the shoot. East campus was finished, but already turned over to Disney, blocking any access to that. My attempts to capture an exterior the evening before was thwarted due to the construction out front.
Through some urgent phone calls to our contact (construction super) we discovered that there was the West campus we could photograph. So very fortunate for us, and our client CertainTeed, the ceilings and walls were almost all finished, and we just had to avoid views out the windows to view the bobcats, hoists and exterior cladding crews working on the cladding and wraps.
The ceiling product, lighting and stairs were beautifully installed, as the crews had wiped off their fingerprints as they worked, and we had all day so we focused on areas we could shoot, until for example a worker was finished painting under the staircase and we could move into that area. Either way, we were happy to turn this into a success story for everyone!
