Capture & Edit through problems
As a professional architectural photographer I'm are obligated to create amazing photos, especially when the odds are stacked against it. Traveling out of state to a project requires a lot of commitment for a client in terms of money and time and a professional will need to bring back striking and unique results every time.
Recently, when I arrived on assignment to the Mississippi Aquarium, I found the acoustical clouds, custom crafted by CertainTeed, awash in blue light, dark and flat. While it still looked amazing to the casual aquarium visitor, I knew it was going to be very tough to make this product look astonishing in a marketing and advertising photo.
The custom-color ceiling was not looking as good as it could and simple camera tricks of a long exposure, flash, or any of the usual weren't going to make the clouds stand out. I needed to separate the product from the plenum, create a true color tone that the product was manufactured in, and make these gorgeous clouds the works of art they should be! Each ceiling piece had to be uniquely lighted in camera and later put together in PhotoShop, finally adding custom true color during computer Photo-Finishing.
